Test the building and sign-zone feasibility

Feasibility starts with the building, the proposed sign zone and the way the sign will be seen. Available drawings and a site survey can establish mounting surfaces, structural zones, viewing distance, access, exposure, landlord constraints and whether the concept can be divided into modules that can be fabricated, transported and lifted. Resolving those inputs before detailed artwork gives design, engineering and installation one workable basis.

Map planning, permits and engineering

Planning and building-permit requirements depend on the sign, building, site and responsible authorities. The project path may involve planning review, a building permit, structural engineering and supporting certification, so responsibilities and hold points should be identified before manufacture. Insigns can coordinate the relevant consultants and approved documentation for the agreed scope. The Acciona project included planning approvals, a building permit, structural engineering and supporting certification.

Coordinate illumination and power

An illuminated sky sign needs a defined power and service strategy. Light output, colour, drivers, cable routes, isolation, weather protection, controls and maintenance access all influence letter construction, building interfaces and future service work. These items are coordinated with the building team and relevant project specialists, so illumination is resolved with the sign structure and access method instead of being treated as a late electrical addition.

Design the high-access delivery and maintenance path

Module sizes, lifting points, rigging, crane or specialist access, building loading zones and installation sequence need to be planned around the real site. Public and traffic safety controls, weather conditions, building operations and specialist subcontractors also shape the delivery window. The same exercise should establish how the completed sign can be inspected and maintained. Acciona's installation planning included lift and rigging plans, traffic and pedestrian controls, building access and specialist subcontractor coordination.
