Dimensional level identification and wayfinding integrated into a university interior.
The project
Insigns delivered dimensional level identification, internal directories and wayfinding elements for the University of Melbourne, creating clear navigation points that remain visually integrated with the surrounding interior.
University wayfinding has to identify place and level quickly without fighting the architecture around it. This completed work brought dimensional level identification and directional information into one clear interior signage system.
Large dimensional numerals establish the level from a distance. Their scale, contrast and placement make the identification part of the architecture rather than an added label.
Directional and directory content sits alongside the level identity so people can confirm where they are and understand where to go next within the same visual sequence.
The Australian Sign & Graphics Association's published 2022 winners record credits Insigns with Silver for Melbourne Uni - Level I.D. in both Fabrication – General Signage and Router Output.
The installed system combines prominent level identification with practical wayfinding, giving the university interior a legible and visually integrated navigation point.
