Project guide

Plan the signage before it becomes urgent

Commercial signage is easiest to control when the important questions are answered before fabrication and site pressure take over.

Commercial signage is easiest to control when the important questions are answered before fabrication and site pressure take over.

01

Start with a location schedule

List every sign by location, purpose, audience and required completion date. Mark building identification, entries, decision points, rooms, statutory information, operational messages and temporary requirements. This becomes the shared source for design, pricing and delivery.

02

Verify the site

Drawings are a starting point, not a substitute for verification. Survey dimensions, substrates, services, sightlines, access and obstructions. Confirm landlord, planning and centre requirements before final artwork or structure is released.

03

Lock the approval path

Identify who approves brand, architecture, compliance, engineering, operations and budget. Record what each approval covers. A clear sequence prevents late stakeholders from reopening decisions after manufacture has begun.

04

Plan installation as part of design

The size of modules, fixing method, cable paths, lifting points, transport and access equipment affect design. Coordinate these decisions early, then align production and installation dates with facade completion, power availability and site access.

Before requesting a final price, issue the current drawings, brand files, location schedule, program dates and known access conditions. Mark assumptions and unresolved items instead of hiding them. Insigns can then separate confirmed scope from allowances, identify the decisions that affect cost or timing and help the project team move toward a genuinely buildable package.
